Help & FAQ

Last updated: 31 July 2026

Neibrz is a hyperlocal feed for your real neighborhood. Post what is happening around you, publicly or anonymously, and see what people nearby are sharing right now. This page answers the questions we hear most. If you cannot find what you need, contact us.

Getting started

What is Neibrz?

A live, location-based feed for the area around you. You see posts from people physically nearby, and your posts appear to people near you. It is for adults aged 18 and over.

How do I sign in?

Neibrz uses Sign in with Google. We only receive your Google account identifier and email address; we never see your Google password. You then choose a display name and a unique @username.

How do I edit my profile?

Go to Profile → Edit profile to change your display name and bio. Your posts, followers, and following counts are shown on your profile.

Privacy and location

Can other people see my exact location?

No, not by default. Before a post is saved, we blur its coordinates to a coarse grid of roughly 100 metres. Other people only ever see an approximate distance (for example "~300m away"), never your exact spot. The one exception is if you deliberately turn on Show exact location for an individual post, which adds a map pin others can open. That switch is off unless you turn it on.

Why does Neibrz use my location for notifications?

If you enable notifications, we store your device's most recent location so we can alert you to activity near you as you move around. This is used only to match you to nearby posts. It is never shown to other users. We remove it when you turn notifications off, after a period of inactivity, or when you delete your account. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

What does posting anonymously actually mean?

When you post anonymously, your name and username are hidden from other users, so nobody in the feed can tell it was you. Anonymity is presentation-only: for safety and to stop abuse, every post stays linked to your account inside our systems, and we may disclose identity where the law requires it or to address serious safety or abuse issues. Anonymous posts follow the same Community Guidelines as everything else, and they can still be reported and blocked.

Do you sell my data or show ads?

No. We do not sell your personal data, we do not show ads, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking. We do not collect advertising IDs or hardware identifiers. See the Privacy Policy for the full list of what we collect and the service providers we use (hosting, sign-in, and notification delivery).

Posting

How do I post, and what is the difference between public and anonymous?

Tap the compose button, write your post, and choose Public (shown with your name and @username) or Anonymous (name hidden, see above). You can decide per post.

What is "Show exact location"?

An optional switch on a post that attaches a precise map pin others can open, instead of only an approximate distance. Use it when the exact spot matters (for example a lost item or an event). It is off by default.

What am I allowed to post?

Be a good neighbor. Harassment, hate, threats, sexual content involving minors, doxxing, impersonation, spam and scams, and illegal content are not allowed. The full list is in our Community Guidelines.

Can I delete a post?

Yes. Open your post and use the delete option. Deletion is permanent. Posts do not expire on their own; they stay until you remove them or delete your account.

Staying safe: report, block, mute, hide

How do I report something?

Every post, including anonymous ones, has a Report option. Reporting is confidential; the author is not told who reported them. A post reported by enough different people is automatically hidden while we review it. For anything involving a child's safety, please also see our Child Safety Standards.

How do I block someone?

On a normal post, Block user hides that person's posts from you and yours from them, and stops either of you following the other. On an anonymous post, Block this poster hides that author's anonymous posts from you without ever revealing who they are. You can review and undo blocks under Profile → Blocked accounts.

What is the difference between block, mute, and hide?

Notifications

How do I turn notifications on or off?

You are asked once when you start using Neibrz, and you can change it any time under Profile → Notification radius & filters, or in your device settings.

How do I change the area I get notified about?

Under Profile → Notification radius & filters you can set how close activity must be to notify you, from about 250 metres up to 2 kilometres.

Why am I not getting notifications?

Your account and data

How do I delete my account?

Two ways, both permanent and immediate:

What happens to my data when I delete my account?

It is removed immediately and cannot be recovered: your profile, username and bio, posts, comments, likes and follows, muted and blocked users, registered devices, any stored location, and your notification and consent records. See Privacy Policy, Section 7.

How do I access or correct my data?

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can access and correct your data, delete your account, and withdraw consent. Email privacy@neibrz.com from your account email address, or use the controls in the app.
